  1. Telltale signs your windows require some attention and care Like any other aspect of your house, windows and doors too need a lot of love and attention. If ignored or left unattended, they will continue to serve you well for a while and will eventually break down and give you trouble. Especially when it comes to windows, it is imperative to regularly maintain them, clean them, and ensure they are functioning well. But how does one recognize that is it time to give attention to a window? You don’t need to wait until a window breaks down completely and simply refuses to budge. Here are some telltale signs that will inform you that your aluminium system windows need you to attend to them asap. For starters, keep an eye on how smoothly your windows move. They should stay smooth and snappy if they are now. If you notice that your windows are becoming more difficult to operate or that they appear to be moving slower, it may be time for some repair. This is usually caused by corrosion of the works or debris in the window rails. Which brings us to our next point, always examine your windows for rust. Certain aluminium window manufacturers use parts made of other metals along with aluminium. While aluminium may not rust, these other parts can rust and will do so. Your window rails are another important reason your windows could malfunction and break down on you. These rails are open and can easily accumulate dust and debris over time. Examine these rails regularly and if you see a buildup of a lot of dirt or gunk, you will need to clean it right away. If left unattended, these rails can immediately start to slow down or jam your windows and may even damage them in the process. Use a toothbrush and a folded piece of cardboard to thoroughly scoop out all the debris from the rails. This is a time-consuming operation, but it will significantly extend the life of your windows. If you have a vacuum cleaner, you may use it to clean the rails by setting it to the highest level. Special windows like soundproof windows and waterproof windows have extra elements of them - like a special rubber sheath around the frame to keep out sound or water. If you own such a window, you will need to regularly check on these kinds of elements as well to ensure your windows work the way they are supposed to. If the rubber lining comes off, it can let in sound and render your soundproof windows useless. Finally, if you are still not sure if your windows need work, you should get in touch with an expert and have them visit and inspect your windows. Let them examine every aspect and recommend what kind of work is needed for all your windows. A self-check or an expert-check should be performed at least 3 to 4 times a year to ensure your windows continue running effortlessly and serve you in good stead for a long long time.
