  2. The Nature of Courage! • What is courage? • What makes someone brave? • Who is the most courageous character in the play? Why? • Is Macbeth brave?

  3. Role Reversal • Critics have pointed out that the roles Macbeth and Lady Macbeth become reversed throughout the play. Can you find evidence of this role reversal. • Think of their visions • Think about the murders at their home

  4. Gender Roles • Many critics believe that Lady Macbeth acts more masculine, while Macbeth acts Feminine. Do you agree? • Give examples from the play.

  5. The Dehumanization of Macbeth • Does Macbeth’s crime make him less human and more alone? • (Consider his relationships with Lady Macbeth, Banquo, and the thanes).

  6. Guilt Can Make people Insane (Bring them to Madness!) • “He was thinking about the murder when suddenly he saw a knife in front of him. The knife was red with blood!” (20). • “There will be no more sleep. Macbeth has murdered sleep” (22) • “A little water will remove the traces of our crime” (22).

  7. Appearance Vs Reality • Lady Macbeth and Macbeth act a certain way on the outside, but are something very different on the inside. • Explain.
