Ultrahigh piezoelectricity in Pb-free crystalsDwight D, Viehland, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, DMR 0806592 Recently, ultrahigh piezoelectricity was realized in Mn-doped NBT-5.6%BT Pb-free crystals (Fig.a), which were grown by TSSG method. The induced charge per longitudinal unit force (a quantity known as d33) of this new lead-free crystal surpassed most successful piezoelectric ceramics of the PZT4 type (see Table I).
