  1. Lesson 3 Vocabulary PowerPoint 5th Grade

  2. Pried *If you have pried something off, you have forced it away from the surface. Look at this picture. Turn and talk to the person beside you. How does this picture represent the word pried?

  3. Desperately *Wanting something desperately means wanting it so much that you will do almost anything to get it. This man desperately needs a job. If you are desperately wanting to pass a test, what do you need to do? Turn and talk to your partner. When you have an answer, put your thumb up against your chest.

  4. Sneered *If you sneered at someone, you showed with your words and expression that you had little respect to that person. How would your face look if you sneered at someone? Act this out without words or sounds.

  5. Indignantly *When you say something indignantly you show irritation because you feel you have been insulted or treated unfairly. Granny is upset. She feels like she has been insulted or treated unfairly. What would Granny say indignantly to show how feels? Share this with your partner.

  6. Urgently *If you urgently tell someone to do something, it is important that it be done right away. If your teacher urgently sends home a letter for your parents should you give it to them right away (thumbs up) or wait a few days (thumbs down)?

  7. Grudgingly *If you say or do something grudgingly, you say or do it without really wanting to. If this girl is grudgingly sweeping the floor, does she want to clean the floor? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no. What would her facial expression be like? Act this out without words or sounds.
