Follow your inner conversation/Voice • This reminds me of the pilgrims because they also sailed to the United States • I wonder if this book is about slavery • I wonder why the soldiers came to his or her village • Maybe there is a raid on the village • I’m guessing the kid doesn’t know where the US is because they weren’t so famous back then • I’m absolutely sure this is set in the 1940’s because they had a motor on their boat and there are soldiers around • Maybe the father is referring to segregation and the kids don’t know about segregation
