Technology Autobiography 1992-2009 By: Kasha Chyczewski
One of my early experiences with a technological device was the Playstation. I remember playing on that device for very long periods of time every day. It was my favorite thing to do. The history of the Playstation begins in 1988 when Sony and Nintendo were working together to develop the Super Disc. However, Sony and Nintendo parted ways business-wise and the Super Disc was never introduced or used by Nintendo. Research and development for the Playstation had began in 1990, headed by Sony engineer, Ken Kutaragi. • Popular gadgets in my house while growing up included cell phones, televisions, house phones, a microwave, an oven, a dishwasher, a hair blow drier, computers, washer and drier machines, and a lot more. Early Experiences with Technological Devices or Artifacts
The Most Technologically Literate Person in my Life. The most technologically literate person in my life would have to be my father. My dad has been working with computers pretty much ever since the computer was made. When there’s something wrong with a computer my dad knows exactly what's wrong with it and knows exactly how to fix it. I have learned so much about computers from prior experiences with always getting virus’s or having something go wrong on my computer. I would always watch what he would do to fix the problem going on with my computer and now thanks to him I now know so much about computers.
Social Consequences & Potential impacts on my lifestyle that depend on my own technological capabilities. I absolutely believe that there are social consequences and potential impacts on my lifestyle that depend on my own technological capabilities. For example, if there wasn’t such thing as cell phones, facebook, MySpace, etc. there wouldn’t be a lot of ways to interact with people. Calculators also have a huge impact on my life and many others. Now a days, calculators will do all the work for you. So many people just rely on using a calculator rather than actually doing the work.
What it means to be Technologically literate in the near Future.. To be technologically literate in the near future means that a person must have knowledge of technology and is capable of using it effectively to accomplish various tasks. He or she can think critically about technological issues and acts accordingly. The capabilities a person must have to be technologically literate in the near future are to have a range of hands-on skills, such as using a computer for word processing and surfing the internet and operating a variety of home and office appliances. You will also have to be able to identify and fix simple mechanical or technological problems at home or work. Last but not least, you have to be able to apply basic mathematical concepts related to probability, scale, and estimation to make informed judgments about technological risks and benefits.
Early adopter, Late adopter, or somewhere in the middle? Among my friends, I think that I am considered somewhere in the middle of an “early adopter” and a “late adopter”. I think this because when new technology comes along it doesn’t take me a while to figure it out but I also don’t learn it right away.
Technological devices I am carrying around now are my cell phone, iPod and camera. Devices I have at home include my computer, televisions, my hair straightenr, two cars, microwave, oven, washer and drier machines, hair drier, and many other little things lying around the house. Technological “wish list” & devices I have now. WishList* A plasma screen TV, a new iPod, a touch screen camera, the Xenon at&t cell phone.
Technology that would benefit to my classmates One technological device that would benefit to my classmates is a laptop. If each student had a laptop I feel like every student would be more organized and have more space to store there information for each class. Instead of handing out papers that can be lost very easily, you can store it on your laptop and the information won’t get lost.
Learning New Technologies Learning new technologies can be hard, easy, boring, interesting, annoying and so on. It all depends on if your interested in the new technology device. If it’s a new type of cell phone, I can find it interesting and I become anxious because I want to be able to know how to work the device. I’ll usually just figure it out on my own rather than go through directions or have someone show me how to use it.
