  2. Description Adding Essential Oils for Fragrance What is soap without a refreshing scent and fragrance? So even on your first attempt, you should try your hand adding some scent in your soap. It’s as easy as buying simple essential oils and adding a drop or two to your soap while it’s melted. When I say “essential oils I mean the type you probably already have at home, the type you put in your diffuser. If you don’t happen to have any, you can buy them at just about any health food store, sometimes in pharmacies, and of course, always online. One of my favorite blend is Lemon Balance Blend 50% Lemon 30% Rosemary 10% Cedarwood 10% Litsea Cubeba Color Wheel Adding color and creating colorful soap is without a doubt my favorite part of the soap-making process. It’s true. When you create soap using this method, you have the freedom to use colors made of just about any type of ingredient. The only limit you have is your own imagination. A color theory certainly wasn’t in my wheelhouse when I first began this adventure. And, it’s the first thing many novice soap makers ask me about: mixing colors without disastrous effects. Let’s face it. You’re adding color to your soap to enhance its attractiveness. Warm vs Cool colors Color theory, for the most, talks about color in light and in pigment. You’ll find that those who work with colors on computer screens or theatrical lighting are most A color wheel is probably one of the most useful tools in your toolkit when you’re considering choices for your soaps. A graphic artist showed me his color wheel, and from that moment on, I knew that I had to have one of my own to save me time and aggravation. We all learned the mixture of colors in school – whether it was elementary school or in art class in high school. But it’s not something we think about as an adult – unless you decide to make soap. You can buy one inexpensively online or at your local art supply store. Many soap makers have created their own color wheel, but unless you fundamentally understand how one works, it’s difficult to do. Not only that, right now, your mind is focused on soap making. concerned with the effects of color in the light. MIca Colors Mica’s attractiveness relies on light reflected off the soap. This is why you’ll see it at its peak colors in transparent soaps – especially the melt and pour. Yes! You can get this effect in the soap you make. And it takes very little effort. Start with approximately a half teaspoon of mica for every pound of soap you use. This is the basis for the pearlescent effect. But don’t stop there. Include other colors in the soap along with the mica. You may want to add just a small smattering of the mineral – don’t stir it throughout the entire bar. Instead just swirl a bit in. You’ll be amazed at how this looks once it hardens. Some soap makers actually brush the mica into the mold, giving the final product a type of jeweled effect. This particular technique may take a while to master. You’ll need to get the melted soap at the right temperature. If it’s too hot when you pour, the mica will just be washed to the bottom of the mold. Milk and Honey Soap Recipe uThe Soap of Milk and Honey Recipe/u Best used for moisturizing and healing 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil 2 Tablespoons Water 2 Tablespoons Milk Powder 2 Tablespoons Honey,

  3. natural not powdered Honey, Spice or Vanilla Fragrance Oil if desired 1/2 cup melted Melt and Pour base Instructions: Melt your soap according to your preference. When the base is melted, gently stir these ingredients into the soap. Mix thoroughly. Pour this into your molds. You’ll notice that there is no coloring in this recipe. I do this purposely since this soap is created to be a healing agent. You’ll discover it’ll have a naturally brown color due to the inclusion of the honey. You can use either a white or clear base soap with this. Both will look awesome and provide the necessary healing of the skin.
