  1. I just wanted to use up some craft supplies, but the kids loved making this island, and I they also learned a little bit of physics. The ocean is blue cardstock, decorated with handmade fish. The island is air-dry modeling clay decorated with real shells and a cocktail parasol. The physics? Note how the wave crests circle around the island, instead of running straight across the ocean. This is due to waves slowing in shallow water and bending toward the island.
