Sustainable Energy Workshop 2011. CPS / SAN ANTONIO AGREEMENT.
E N D
CPS / SAN ANTONIO AGREEMENT In as little as four years, Consert’s Virtual Peak PlantSM technology is expected to improve energy efficiency in 140,000 households and small businesses in the CPS Energy service area, resulting in the reduction of 250 megawatts of peak electricity demand. CPS, which also announced Monday (June 20, 2011) that it would shutter its two oldest coal plants in 2018, needs to make up the roughly 870 megawatts it will lose. Reducing peak demand helps the utility get partway there, as well as reducing costs to consumers if it can avoid turning on expensive gas peaking plants on summer's hottest days.
