Inspire Alumni….through Branches and Networks • Currently 213 groups in 88 countries • UK: 42 groups; ~115,000 alumni • Internationally: 171 groups; connecting with ~70,000 alumni • 20 sector-specific groups
Engage and Inspire Alumni ….through Events • Offer a rotating schedule of Alumni Events in the UK, North • America, Europe and Asia • Feature a mix of intellectual stimulation and networking • Harness academic resources to build content, showcase Oxford today • Employ technology to reach more people
2012 Alumni Survey • Conducted an online quantitative survey to measure alumni interest in University-sponsored activities • Survey ran for a month in late 2012 • 6,212 respondents • Three on-line qualitative focus groups: • 2 groups in the UK • 1 group in the US
The majority of respondents (72%) feel fairly connected to the University
Alumni maintain their connections to the University in a number of ways…..
But there are certain factors preventing further involvement…..
Respondents suggested ways in which the University could increase engagement…
Principal objectives for the near term • Use data and survey results to inform strategy • Start early with students and focus on making the case for staying engaged • Continue to invest in strong links with colleagues and alumni volunteers • Listen! Use alumni effectively and as a source of feedback for strategic direction • Clarify the levels of engagement; help move people from one level to another
