What are Swingers? • Definition: A non-monogamous behavior, in which singles or partners in a committed relationship engage in sexual activities with others as a recreational or social activity. According Merriam-Webster: A swinger is one who engages freely in sex.
Types of Swingers • Hard Core • Egotistical • Recreational • Interpersonal • Communal • Utopian • Closed • Open
History of Swingers • Stone age men would would have sex for fun with many partners • Roman Orgies • U.S. Air Force during WWII • Key club parties
Political Ideology of Swingers • Most are conservative • Tended to be more liberal than non-swingers • Evenly distributed between Democrats, Republicans and Independents
Political Views on Swinging • Lifestyles Organization fought a California Law against the Alcoholic Beverage Control • Prohibiting alcohol being sold at swinger clubs • In Arizona, five swinger clubs were shut down • Swinging is protected by the Fourteenth Amendment • Illegal in most states

How does swinging affect a relationship or marriage? • Most swingers report having a boring sex life before swinging. • Swinging makes the couple want each other more. • Sometimes jealousy can arise, which would force them to stop swinging. • Makes them feel their relationship is stronger • Swinging is for sex, marriage is love
Fun Facts About Swinging • There is about 4,000 swinger couples in the Winona area • Swingers are usually White, upper-class, highly educated people • Swinging is less when the economy is worse.
