  7. The Vehicle Safety Recall Process ADVISR® • I. Issued by NHTSA (National Highway Safety Administration) • Car owners file complaint if they believe there is an issue • NHTSA reviews, catalogues and possibly investigates • If it investigates, will carefully examine the complaint along with the vehicle design • If there is issue with the design which affects safety NHTSA will mandate a safety recall

Recall Notices Include: ADVISR® • Component – this identifies the item or items being recalled • Defect Summary – provides details on the defective item or system • Consequence Summary – clearly defines what happens if the recall item is not corrected • Corrective Summary – outlines the measures required by the dealer to fix the safety recall item
