How it is read • Chinese writing has symbols called characters. Each character represents a different word. • Chinese writing is read from top to bottom and from right to left. • There are 35,000 characters in Chinese writing • Chinese people need to know about 6,000 characters to read a newspaper.

Conclusion • Chinese writing is VERY different than our writing! We use alphabet letters and they use characters that are like pictures. • I think it would be VERY hard to read Chinese writing! • I would NOT like to learn Chinese writing because it would be VERY hard!
