  3. ALL GRADES • 3rd Marking Period Interim Ended February 22, 2013 • 3rd Marking Period Interim Distributed March 1, 2013 • “Spread the Word” Assembly took place February 20, 2013 • Spring Break • March 29th – April 7th

  4. 6th Grade What’s happening? Students just participated in first Talley Spelling Bee ELA Trip to see a play about Martin Luther King Jr. Next few weeks – course selections for 2013-2014 Technology Music or Art Gym/Health Language – Half Year

  5. 7th Grade What’s happening? Next few weeks – course selections for 2013-2014 Technology Music or Art Gym/Health Language – Full Year

  6. 8th Grade Transition to High School For all students continuing IB, all necessary papers have been sent to Mount Pleasant High School counselors will be coming to Talley in April for course selections 8th grade students will be going to Pea Patch Island during the week of April 23rd Trip to Medieval Times for 8th graders on May 9th Selected 8th grade students will be taking the NAEP exam on March 4, 2013

  7. DCAS We just finished the first spring opportunity for DCAS There will be another opportunity beginning in April We ARE aware that testing began very early. This was state and district determined, not school determined.

  8. DCAS In terms of score: If your child did not receive a score illustrating “growth”, the 2nd opportunity provides and additional chance for improvement This year, unlike last, your child’s instructional growth is looked at in order to make the determination about whether the 2nd opportunity is needed These goal scores are given to us by the state.

  9. Community Service We have reached the ½ way mark for the year! At this point, our students should already have worked towards at least a portion of their required hours Children’s Book deadline extended to Monday, March 4th Total Hours due May 31st
