  3. Football! • Played in almost all schools in India • Goa, Kerala, Manipur, West Bengal, Mizoram and Sikkim. • Kolkata is said to be home of Indian football • Second most popular sport in India • Captain of the Indian football team Baichung Bhutia

  4. Field Hockey • It is the National sport of India • It is the third most played sport in India • Was brought by the British • First field hockey club 1865- 86 Kolkata • Later to be followed in Bombay and Punjab

  5. Cricket! • In India there is a league called the ICL • Cricket was introduced to India in the 18th century • India's first Test victory over England came in Chennai (then known as Madras) in 1952 • Mahendra Singh Dhoni

  7. Kabaddi! • Known to be about 4,000 years old • Popular in Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Japan • Kabaddi is a national recognized sport

  8. Kho- Kho • Kho- Kho didn’t have any rules until the beginning of the 20th century • This game does demand physical fitness • It is one of the most popular traditional sports in India • A national sport of India
