  2. Bamboo Flooring is Prone to Moisture, Cupping and Swelling When exposed to moisture for an extended period of time, bamboo flooring can absorb it and weaken. This leads to cupping, warping and swelling of the material. To avoid this problem, the floor should be kept dry at all times and spills wiped up immediately with a damp mop. Typically water will just pool on top of the boards, giving ample time to clean up before any damage occurs.

  3. Bamboo Flooring can be Easily Dented and Scratched When it comes to bamboo floors there is a wide range in quality and densities available. Soft bamboo flooring will be more prone to dents and scratches than other wood floors so it’s important you choose a bamboo flooring style that suits your lifestyle and home. Cheap bamboo floor deals usually mean the manufacturer has harvested the bamboo too early or taken shortcuts in the compression process, and this contributes to a floor that is too soft.

  5. Bamboo Flooring Fades over Time and Changes Colour Yes, bamboo floors can fade and change colour over time – and so can most hardwood floors. Especially if your bamboo floors are consistently exposed to direct harsh sunlight, it’s inevitable that they will discolour over time. If furniture is placed in certain spots and rarely moved, this can contribute to having areas that contrast with the fading too.

Soft bamboo floors will not hold up to regular resanding and refinishing., nor will floors that have been floated over a foam underlay as opposed to being directly glued to the concrete subfloor.
