刀片的形状. 选择切削参数的方法. 选刀须知. 无论选什么刀具一定要了解的是： 加工的材质是什么？用什么机床加工？精加工还粗加工？有无图纸要求？ 车刀类：       压紧方式是什么？刀方多少？粗加工还是精加工？刀片型号？ 一、外圆车刀： 要求刀具的主偏角为多少度？有没有图纸要求？加工的材料是什么？有没有硬度要求？ 二、内孔车刀： 直径多大？孔深多少？机床刀套内径多大？内孔有没有关涉？ 三、切槽刀： 要切的宽多大？槽宽多少？是端面槽 外圆槽还是内孔槽刀？最大加工直径与最小加工直径是多少？（端面槽刀专问） 四、切断刀 切多大的直径？要求槽宽多少？
