How often are you going to Mass? When you don’t go what keeps you from going? • Why do you want to be confirmed? • How do you describe your relationship with God currently? • After watching this video, do you have a better idea of who you would like to ask to be your sponsor? You want someone who is living these things out.
What Does Being A Saint Mean? • Character is a word we use to describe someone. • Have you ever seen someone do good without trying to get the reward? Maybe they didn’t know anyone was watching? • Confirmation adds to your character something nothing else can. An added aspect to your relationship with God. Spiritual gifts that are given out at no other time. A mark is placed on you that says you hold within your character what it means to be a practicing catholic. You can squander this, but you have to think about how you are seen and remembered. • There are people in our catholic tradition that we honor because of the character that they showed that was formed by God. We call those people Saints. • Choose a saint as your name that you care about, pray to, admire, and challenges you by the example shared by their life stories. Pick a saint you feel a personal connection to! • Boys can choose female saint names, and girls can choose male saint names.
What stood out to you from the video? • Why are the stories of saints so important? • What do you think prayer was like for the saints? • How could your prayer life improve? • What makes showing (and living) your Catholic faith easy/hard? • Leaders: Share who your saint name is/was and why you chose them. • Students: Share who you think your saint name will be and why.
Prayer for our Patron Saints Heavenly Father, We ask that You reveal who it is that we need to walk this journey with us. We ask that, through prayer, research and discernment, our Patron Saint might present themselves to us. Father, we ask that You continue to remind us how important this Saint will be to us and that we will not forget our reason behind choosing our Saint. Amen.
