3. It does matter… • In September 2002, Rep. Johnny Isakson (GA), Member of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Education and the Workforce and an architect of the "No Child Left Behind" legislation, invited United Learning to present the unitedstreaming application and scientific evaluation results to members of the House of Representatives. Additionally, unitedstreaming was showcased as a model of educational technology with scientific evidence of increasing student achievement. • The unitedstreaming evaluation was recently submitted to the Center for Applied Research in Educational Technology (CARET) for review and was identified as: • A Type 4 Formal Research Study: • Providing evidence of increased student achievement through the use of the unitedstreaming application.

4. Today’s objectives • Use passcode and create account • Learn how to search quickly • Select at least once clip you might use • Download clip to your H drive

5. www.unitedstreaming.com • Look on the right hand side for “new user” • Our Burgettstown passcode is • EMAIL JACQUE FOR IT • Enter this and hit “go” • Fair Use: United Streaming video can be used in your classroom as long as you list the citation. (These are provided on the site) • You cannot upload United Streaming Video to your website because fair use does not permit us to broadcast the materials to the public.

6. Once signed in… • You can choose to search by topic, grade level, or state standard • Browse the video or video segments that are possibilities. • You can play them by clicking the green arrow icon before the name in the list. • You can save them by clicking on the square disk icon before the name. • You will be prompted to save the video-choose your H drive.

7. I don’t have time to make materials for this! • Check the “related materials” tab and see if a teacher’s guide is available. This should help you more easily integrate the video clip(s) into your classroom. • Make sure you are allowing pop-ups as you won’t be able to get the materials otherwise.

8. Playing the video • If you don’t already have access to one, email Chris N. to borrow an LCD projector. • If you are unsure of how to hook up the projector to your computer, please let Chris or me know. • Try out the projector and video to check that you downloaded the clip(s) you wanted and that you can easily use the projector and access the video.

9. Let’s choose some video • Once you have an account, you can review video at your leisure. • If you can give me some time, I am happy to help you. Just let me know the deadline, the topic, and the grade level. I will do what I can for you.
