Reflection and Rationale of Jeopardy Game • Utilizing a Jeopardy game to facilitate learning provides numerous opportunities to further students’ comprehension mandated in SS3E4 and other Social Studies state of Georgia standards. I chose to create this game to promote student knowledge through the interactive participation of the pupils which will enhance their academic success. Jeopardy also targets different learning styles (Gardner,) cooperative learning, and accomplishment by students who may feel inadequate when presented with academic information via other means. • Questions and their answers should be designed in a manner that targets all levels of academic ability in the classroom. This allows every pupil the opportunity to experience the feeling of accomplishment. Educators must be cognizant of the fact that without a belief in self a child will shut down to preserve his/her self-esteem. Therefore, no learning will take place. Jeopardy allows all pupils to be winners if presented properly. • Cooperative learning may also be enhanced through the use of Jeopardy. Children should be grouped with students of differing academic ability. Further, all answers must be unanimous. Everyone is on a level playing field. Teachers must reiterate the necessity to respect all group members input. I have seen children, viewed by their peers as challenged, rise to the group expectations during Jeopardy, thereby fostering the admiration of their peers. • Students love games and Jeopardy is an excellent tool to advance interactive learning between the student and the subject matter. Jeopardy encourages students to own their learning and promotes autonomy. Creating these games is an easy and unique teaching tool every teacher should incorporate into their lesson plans.
