Technical • Development of working prototype repository using ARC harvesting software • Problem that our version of ARC is not recognising resumption tokens • Fixing this, and exploring use of Celestial harvester www.rdn.ac.uk/projects/eprints-uk
Technical continued… • Development of Z39.50 and SOAP test client interfaces for delivery of records to web services • Design and pilot stages of the name authority and citation analysis web services. Completion of the subject classification database at OCLC www.rdn.ac.uk/projects/eprints-uk
Advocacy to OAI community • Publication of simple Dublin Core metadata recommendations for e-print archives written by project team http://www.rdn.ac.uk/projects/eprints-uk/docs/simpledc-guidelines/ • First supporting study "An assessment of the potential impact of eprints on the UK higher and further education sectors" in the final editing stages. www.rdn.ac.uk/projects/eprints-uk
Advocacy to HE/FE community • Article on the project due for publication in Issue 35 Ariadne. • Presentation of a paper on the project at the UK Universities Science and Technology Librarians Group meeting at the Robinson Library, Newcastle upon Tyne on 4th March 2003. www.rdn.ac.uk/projects/eprints-uk
Advocacy to HE/FE community • Workshop on the OAI-PMH by Andy Powell at the Lisbon OAF Workshop in December 2002 • Delivery of the same workshop by Pete Cliff at the Berlin OAF Workshop next week www.rdn.ac.uk/projects/eprints-uk
Communication with DSpace/MIT • Meeting with Mackenzie Smith to discuss the metadata standards required by ePrints UK to enable us to harvest records from DSpace repositories • Meeting with Mary Barton in February 2003 to discuss possible MIT collaboration in advocacy and dissemination events. www.rdn.ac.uk/projects/eprints-uk
