A bit about King Edward 7th • Edward was born at Buckingham Palace, the eldest son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. After his father's death in 1861 he undertook many public duties, took a close interest in politics, and was on friendly terms with the party leaders. In 1863 he married Princess Alexandra of Denmark, and they had six children. He toured India 1875–76. He succeeded to the throne in 1901 and was crowned in 1902.
Who was King Edward 7th • King of Great Britain and Ireland from 1901. As Prince of Wales he was a prominent social figure, but his mother Queen Victoria considered him too frivolous to take part in political life. In 1860 he made the first tour of Canada and the USA ever undertaken by a British prince.
Marriage • King Edward 7th got married on the 10th March 1863 to Denmark's Princess Alexandra in Windsor. • They had six children three boys and three girls.
Becoming king • King Edward 7th becoming king in 1901 because of his mother died Queen Victoria. • He was only crowned on the 9th August 1902 in Westminster Abbey. Which made his wife Princess Alexandra Queen.
Edward the Peacemaker • You may knew King Edward 7th as Edward the Peacemaker, he got this name after himself and his wife went to visit his nephew Emperor William 2nd of Germany, that temporarily dispelled German suspicion that the increasingly friendly relations between Great Britain and France and Russia were aimed at weakening Germany. Because of his efforts to increase international amity the king became known as Edward the Peacemaker.
Death of King Edward 7th • King Edward 7th died on the 6th May 1910 at Buckingham Place at the age of 68. • The King died in his sleep and nobody knows why.
