(wordsthat are similar toEnglish) • Nouns (i.e.carro) • Adjectives (i.e. nervioso) • Adverbs (i.e. -mente correspondsto “ly”) • Identifytheverbsand underlinethem.

  3. Analyzetheverbs. • Voice (active orpassive) • Tense (present, preterit, imperfect, future, conditional, progressive, perfect) • Mood (subjunctive)

  4. Identifythesubject and draw a rectanglearoundit. • Doesthesubject come beforeoraftertheverb? • Isthesubjectnotmentionedbecauseitisobviousfromtheverbconjugation? • Readtheentirereadingfor “thegist.”

  5. Identifyanyunfamiliarwordsthat are criticaltounderstanding. Mark themwith a * and look them up in a bilingualdictionary. • Determine ifyourchoice of definitionmakessense in thepassagethatyou are reading. • Readtheselectionagain, once youhaveanalyzedthesentences.
