The Trail Supplied the South • Dominated by jungles. • It allowed for the passage of weapons, food, and equipment. • It was 1,000 kilometers in length and consisted of many parts. • The trail had dummy routes set up to confuse the Americans. • It is believed that over 40,000 Vietnamese were used to help keep the trail open and passable.

  9. Cu Chi Tunnels • This was the Viet Cong’s base of operations for the Tet Offensive in 1968. • Used as hiding spots from combat. • Sickness would run rampant because people were forced to live underground for long periods of time due to American movement above ground.

  10. Cu Chi Tunnels • Malaria was the major sickness in the tunnels. It would end up the second largest killer during the Vietnam War for the Viet Cong. • At any given time 50% of the Viet Cong would have malaria.

  11. Operation Crimp • 1966, B-52 Bombers dropped 30 tons of high explosives onto the region of the Cu Chi Tunnels. 8,000 troops would
