  5. Forum for Gender Studies and Equality: a brief history • Originates in the 1970s’ feminist movement • Established officially in 1985 as a ”Forum for Women Researchers and Women’s Research” • Changed names in 2009 to ”Forum for Gender Studies and Equality”

  6. The overall aim of Forum • Forum shouldcontributeto gender awareness in order topromote gender quality Forum’sactivitiesalsohighlights a rangeof social divisions

  7. Forum’s assignments • Forum is a meeting place for researchers, teachers, students and practitioners • Forum is a link between research and practice • Forum cooperates within and outside Linköping University

  8. Forum’s organisation • Forum is below the vice-chancellor • Forum has a board comprising of members from all faculties • Forum is led by a director (40%) and a coordinator (50%) • Forum closely cooperates with LiU’s Strategy Group for Equal Opportunities and the Unit of Gender Studies
