2. How Can We Go Green? Here are 10 ways to go green from what I think is the most important to the least…….. • Take care of your local environment. • Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. • Save energy to save money. • Save water to save money. • Use less gas. • Borrow instead of buying. • Buy smart. • Skip the bottled water. • Keep electronics out of trash. • Eat smart.

3. How Does Going Green & Taking Care Of Your Environment Help? By going green and taking care of your local environment, you do something that will benefit you, others and you take one small step to making the world a cleaner place. Something I can do is have a clean up day in my neighborhood and clean up and trash or debris that we see. By doing this my neighbors and I will have a cleaner and healthier community to live in. This also gives the animals in my neighborhood a place to live in. By going green people do a part in reducing ‘Greenhouse Gas Emissions.’ This means we are also reducing ‘Global Warming.’

4. Are Companies Going Green? There are many companies that are going green here are 2 companies……. Bp Oil Right now Bp Oil is going green by funding $1 billion toward the restoration of the Gulf of Mexico after the oil spill. By funding this much money they are helping the environment near the Gulf of Mexico get cleaner for the animals and habitat. Bp Oil is also monitoring and evaluating environmental impacts around the Gulf of Mexico like, watching the effects of the oil spill on wildlife. One big way Bp Oil is going green is helping educate others about energy. They send employees to Africa to help children inspire and learn how energy works and how to conserve it. This helps the kids to grow up and help them to go green starting now. continue

5. Are Companies Going Green? Other than Bp Oil, another company is also going green, and that is…….. Frito-Lay Frito-Lay minimized waste by putting the 3R’s (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle.) into action. When the chips go into shipping, they reuse their cartons 5 to 6 times each. They saved 120,000 tons less paperboard each year. Once used to their best of their ability, the paperboard is recycled. In 1999 Frito-Lay reduced their usage of water by 40% for each bag of chips that were made. That’s 1.5 billion gallons they saved in total. All Frito-Lay plants are currently working toward “Zero Landfill” with the goal of diverting at least 99% of waste from landfills.

6. How Kids are Helping In School. In my school the kids are reading to be informed about ‘Global Warming’ and what we can do by going green. We read two articles. One was called…… How Farting Cows Can Help Your Homework Blues. By. Planet Patrol. This article is about how a group of scientists from New Zealand are concerned about too much methane gas that comes from animals. This is a concern because animal fart mostly cows are a type of gas, ‘Methane Gas.’ Methane gas is a type of greenhouse gas, and greenhouse gas causes global warming. Global warming can alter the temperature of the seasons in a big way. Continue

7. How Kids Are Helping In School. There was also another article we read called…… Greenland Ice Sheets By. Science Daily This article is about how scientists in Greenland are watching how fast Greenland’s Ice Sheet is melting. This is important because through climate change( which is caused by global warming.) the melting of the ice sheets can cause too much rising sea levels and rising sea levels can be a big problem, so scientists are watching and keeping track of how fast it’s melting

8. My Invention. This jacket has a solar panel. You can use this solar panel when you go camping or if you go hiking. In the day the solar panel collects the solar energy from the Sun and changes it into electrical energy. Then you can charge your cell phone, iPod, and mp3. By charging it this way you avoid throwing away too many battery cells.
