What is it? • Halliburton’s Big Bore VersaFlex® expandable liner hanger (ELH) system is designed specifically for the deepwater and subsea markets and is ideal for complex well conditions. • The liner hanger is designed to replace the mudline/casing wellhead profile. Where it Will Work • VersaFlex® Big Bore liner hanger system is designed for subsea and deepwater application with the intention of overcoming failures and complexities intrinsic to supplemental casing adapters. • Big Bore setting tools are designed for high-rate washing, reaming, and even drill-in with liner capabilities where necessary.
Challenges Addressed • When running supplemental casing adaptors, operators have less than a two-degree margin-of-error for avoiding leaks while landing this type of adapter. VersaFlex® Big Bore system’s rotation and reciprocation capability eliminate the risk. • VersaFlex Big Bore system’s rotating and reciprocation capability during cementing allows for zonal isolation integrity. • System is ideal for extreme well conditions and its high-torque rating permits reaming through downhole cave-ins, kicking-off ledges from previously drilled segments, and drilling new hole sections.
When its Helpful • VersaFlex®Big Bore system is highly praised for its placement flexibility in deep and ultra-deepwater regions. • If the liner is not fully deployed and landed on depth, the supplemental casing hanger does not offer any means for washing or reaming to depth, which presents a potential for millions of dollars to be spent in remedial repairs. With the VersaFlex®Big Bore system, however, operators are not forced to weigh high-risk procedures against liner-cost savings.
