In April 2018, a statue of leading suffragist Millicent Fawcett was unveiled by the Prime Minister and the Mayor of London in Parliament Square, London, just outside the Houses of Parliament. The statue shows Fawcett holding a banner that carries words that she wrote about the suffragette Emily Wilding Davison, who was killed at the Epsom Derby in 1913 trying to get attention for the campaign for votes for women.
