  1. How to use Selcoto search for books in the Friedell Library

  2. On the library computer desktop, click on SELCO. This will open up the Aqua Browser. It looks like this:

  3. Type the title, author or subject into the search box. I’m looking for books about vampires…

  4. Click enter:Here’s what came up:

  5. I clicked on the top choice and got this:Look for the location at the bottom of the screen: Do we have it here at Friedell?

  6. Check out the web on the left of the search. This gives different words that might help clarify the search. Clicking on one will make your search more specific… I clicked on suspense:

  7. Now I’m going to click on paranormal and see what I get…

  8. Vampire Mountain looks like what I am looking for. I click on the title to see if it’s available…

  9. It’s available and located here, so I go to the fiction shelves and look under:F SHA

  10. Title Search: I am looking for The Red Pyramid… To do a title search, simply type the title of the book you are looking for into the search box:

  11. Did you notice the availability? Go back if you missed it.

  12. Oh no! Not available…what to do now? You can fill out a request form. It looks like this:

  13. Do not Click on Request This Copy Only • If you want to request a copy from another library, fill out this form:

What to do with the request form: • Fill out the form • Turn it into Ms. Ryan • The book should arrive within 3-5 days from another location • When your book is ready you will be notified by your advisory teacher. • Come see Ms. Ryan in the media center to check out your book • If you do not pick up your book within a week, it will be returned from whence it came.

  15. A.R. Book Finder • Go to www.arbookfind.com • Fill in the title of a book and it will give you the level

  16. Looking for an AR book with your interests in mind? Click on the “Advanced Search” tab at the top.

  17. Fill in the interest level from the pull-down menu ATOS book level is your AR range Fill in the additional criteria with specific information that pertains to you Split the screen with Selco and AR book find and type your results into Aquabrowser. Voila! The best book for you!
