  1. Decimal Review 244.4 ÷ 2.6 9.8 X 1.73

  2. Adding Fractions • Steps: • Find common denominator (if needed). • 2. Add Numerators. • Keep denominator! • Simplify ALWAYS!

  3. Adding Mixed #’s • Steps: • Change to common denominator (if needed). • 2. Add whole numbers & numerators! • Keep Denominator • ALWAYS Simplify!

  4. Subtracting Fractions • Steps: • Find common denominator (if needed). • 2. Subtract Numerators. • Keep denominator! • ALWAYS Simplify!

  5. Subtracting Mixed #’s • Steps: • Change to common denominator (if needed). • 2. If you need to borrow with subtraction: BORROW from whole #, ADD bottom to top! • Subtract whole numbers & numerators! • Keep Denominator • ALWAYS Simplify!

  6. Multiplying Fractions DO NOT FIND COMMON DENOMINATORS! • Steps: • 1. Rewrite in fraction form – Turn mixed #’s & whole #’s into improper fractions! • 2. Cross Simplify…if you can! • 3. Multiply STRAIGHT Across! Top times top, bottom time bottom • 4. Simplify…as always!!

  7. NOTES: Multiply Fractions with Models Steps: 1. Think of a fraction model for each factor. 2. Overlap those models, and that’s it!  3. The boxes that have both patterns represent the product. Example:

  8. Dividing Fractions DO NOT Have to FIND COMMON DENOMINATORS! • Rewrite in fraction form • Turn mixed #’s & whole #’s into improper fractions! • 2. Keep, Change, Flip • Keep the first fraction • Change ÷ to x • Flip the second fraction (reciprocal)

  9. NOTES: Divide Fractions with Models means how many ’s are in ? So, I have 4 groups of 2! Let’s try a fraction: • means how many ’s are in ? • So, I have 8 groups of ½!

  10. **If you want to find common denominators, you can. Your denominators will divide away, and you will divide the numerators straight across. Once you have a common denominator, divide straight across. 3 ÷ 2 =
