Consequences of Counter-Aggression • Student: • Guilt/Shame • Embarrassment • Loss of self-esteem • Disengagement • Act out • Irrational beliefs are confirmed • Damaged Relationships with staff • Staff: • Guilt • Embarrassment • Performance Issues • Loss of Credibility • Professional sanctions • Damaged relationships with students

Because of our personal history we must be aware of our feelings and behaviors to kids. 4. We need to recognize and overcome our “prejudices” with the help of our colleagues. 5. Recognizing “triggers” helps us learn not to pull them.
