  1. WELCOME!!!!!! 1st SNPhA General Meeting

A little bit about us… • SNPhA is an educational service association of pharmacy and pre-pharmacy students who are concerned about pharmacy and healthcare related issues, and the poor minority representation in pharmacy and other health-related professions. • We are “The voices of diversity and advocates of change for healthcare in underserved communities”

  3. 2009-2010 Exec Board

  4. Why should YOU join SNPhA? • We’re a little family! • Community service involvement • $$$ to attend Nationals and Regionals! • Regionals 2010: Nawlins, LA • Nationals 2010: Seattle, WA • More on that later • Rotation at the SNPhA National Office • Up to $15,000 in scholarship opportunities • Discounts on hotels, Budget and Avis car rentals, American Airlines etc • And PLENTY of opportunities to develop leadership skills…

  5. Get involved: Be a chair/ join a committee! • Service (3 Chairs) • Alumni Relations • Pre-pharmacy • MS Recruitment • Mentoring/ Tutoring • Social • Webmaster • AA Jeopardy • Mr. PharmD • Food and Clothing Drives • Fundraising • Ghostgrams/Valograms • PC Rep

Member Applications and Dues • Dues: $45 • $35 goes to the National Office • $10 goes to the chapter • Fill out membership application and turn that and $45 into Emmanuel after the meeting. • Last day is Sept 24th • Pre-pharmacy students can turn it at the second general meeting (Sept 28) • P1s: Lola Lajide • P2s: Tony Okoro • P3s: Benita Bamgbade Or you can place it in the SNPhA President’s box!!!

  7. Regionals 2008: Deep in the of Texas • Our chapter hosted the meeting for Regions 3, 4 and 5. • Interesting speakers and informative presentations! • Networking • Great food • Tortilla Soup? Apple Pie? Or the cheesecake (Gerren?) • Saltlick Bridging the Gap • Taboo Tournament • Old school Dance and Stanky Legg Competition

  8. Nationals • This past July in Chicago, IL • About 13 members attended, including a pre-pharmacy member! • “I just want to thank God and my momma!” • 2nd Place in Scrapbook. Props to Victoria! • Bryson awarded a scholarship from Walmart and Walgreens • Benita awarded a scholarship from Krogers • Chapter of the Year ( In my opinion)

  9. Upcoming activities for September • “Project Collaboration” Health Fair • Sept 10, 6-9 pm at Gregory Gym • St. Elizabeth’s Health Fair • Sept 13, 2pm-5pm in Pflugerville • CE Fundraiser • Sept 13, 11:15-12:35, after 2:40pm • Pre-pharmacy meeting and Fall Social • More info coming soon

Before we go… • Next meeting: • Sept 28th 12pm PHR 2.108 • Guest speaker Karen Aitchison from the Capital Dialysis Center • Food and it isn’t Pizza  but you had better pay your dues! • Dues: • September 24th for Pharmacy Students • September 28th for Pre-pharmacy Students • Sign-up Sheets up front!!!

  11. Ice breaker • Don’t tell anyone what their sticker says!!!! • Each person has a PERSON OR TV SHOW on their sticker. • The objective is to meet NEW people by asking only one YES OR NO question to figure out what is on your sticker. • Introduce yourself before you ask your question • DON’T ask questions of people you already know!!!
