Luggage/ Bed Roll • Bedding for a twin bed or a sleeping bag • Pillow • Clothing for 3 days • Personal toiletries- shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush, comb • Towel and washcloth • Swim suit- one piece for girls or bring a shirt to cover up a two piece • Pajamas • Light jacket • A pair of jeans or long pants • Extra change of clothes • Extra socks to prevent blisters • Extra pair of tennis shoes • No more than $20 (Hide it well!)
Backpack • Flashlight • Bug spray • Sunscreen • Hat/ Bandana • Sunglasses • Full water bottle (or camel pack) • Pencil
DO NOT Bring!!! • Cell phones • IPods/ MP3 players/Video Games/Toys • Items for pranks- toilet paper, silly string, etc. • More than $20 • Any item that is forbidden at school • Nail Polish • Snacks/Candy/Soda
How are cabins decided? • Each student will complete a card with the names of three friends that he/she would like to bunk with at camp. • This will be completed within the next week during science class. • Each student is guaranteed one friend from the list, however; we try to accommodate as many friends as possible. • Cabins will be announced the day before we leave for camp. • Chaperone children will be in a cabin with their parents unless they are the opposite gender. For instance, the mom of a boy will be in charge of a cabin of girls, but her cabin will be grouped with her son during the day.
Wednesday, Sept. 18 • Make sure your luggage is labeled with your first and last name. This should be a large label, such as a strip of tape. • Students should report to their home room by 7:45 AM with your luggage and backpack. • When the bell rings, all parents will be asked to leave except for chaperones. • Chaperones will help students label luggage with cabin numbers. • We will load busses beginning at 8:20 and leave at 8:30.
While at Camp: • Orientation • We will attend four classes: • Limnology • Forces in Nature • Ranch Life • Expeditions • Recreation Time: • Swimming • Water Slides • Café Sky • Camp Store • Various Outdoor Activities • Evening Activities: • Clue • Campfire
Friday, Sept. 20 • We will be leaving Sky Ranch by 1 PM with an expected arrival at school between 3-3:15 PM. • All chaperones will be required to help carry luggage to the labeled homeroom teacher area, parents are welcome to assist. • Once the luggage has been removed from the busses, students will be released and free to go. • Students will be released based on the note included in their camp packet. If plans change, please call the office. • Please be patient during dismissal. We have 95 children that we are focusing on keeping safe. • Mrs. Martin and substitute will handle dismissal for students not attending camp at the regular school dismissal time.
Medications • All medication MUSTbe turned in by Monday, Sept. 16 at 3 pm. Medicine must be in the original container. • A form must be completed for each medication that your child needs to take at camp. The forms should be brought to school with the medication. • All questions should be directed to Mrs. Andrews, the school nurse. Mary_andrews@allenisd.org
