Eastern Nebraska office on Aging • Mission: To assist elders to remain in home • One of 650 area agencies on aging created by Congress under the Older Americans Act • ENOA serves families in Douglas, Sarpy, Dodge, Cass, and Washington counties. • ENOA's role is to ensure that the older adults within its region: • Access to continuum of services • ENOA serves as a gateway to aging services that already exist in the community • Operates its own programs that fill previously unmet needs in the five-county area
Grandparent Resource Center • Mission: To strengthen and support grandparents so they can provide safe and secure homes for the grandchildren in their care • GRC offers: • Monthly support group meetings. • Phone support when a caregiver is in crisis or just needs someone to talk to. • Access to legal services. • Access to family and/or individual counseling. • Assistance with transportation. • Access to many programs available through ENOA. • A resource library with books and videos for grandparents and children.
University of Nebraska Omaha • The Grace Abbott School of Social Work, part of the University of Nebraska at Omaha • BS, MS programs • Gerontology certificate • The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) has continuously accredited both the MSW (since 1940) and BSSW (since 1975) programs, awarding reaffirmation of accreditation in 1997 through the year 2013. • UNO, SW offers the only accredited MSW program in Nebraska, and is the only such program within a 250-mile radius
