  4. Laziness • Students are “natural economizers”: (Harris 2004) • Cutting and pasting • Purchasing from online service • Downloading a free paper • Paraphrasing w/o attribution • “Archiving” fellow student papers 1

  5. Lack of Writing Fluency Results from: • Inability or unwillingness to complete background assignments • Lack of practice • Fear of being under-prepared 2

  6. Incorrect Research Practices Consists of: • Summarizing w/o attribution • Careless notetaking • Ignorance about what constitutes plagiarism • Copying text, images, sound, or video clips w/o attribution 3

  7. Procrastination • Panic for time: result of poor time management skills and laziness • Stress and competition: Grades • Assignment Construction and Due Dates 4
