School Direction School Goals Vision, Mission, Beliefs Vision: At Stonewall Jackson Middle School our students will receive a high quality education in a positive and safe environment that promotes student learning and academic success. Mission: Stonewall Jackson Middle School is committed to the success of every student and will collaborate with parents and the community to provide students with educational experiences and opportunities that foster student achievement. To increase by 3% the number of students who achieve mastery or above in Reading/ Language Arts and Math on the Westest 2. 2. Promote and increase parent involvement in both academic and extra-curricular school activities and membership in school support organizations such as PTO, LSIC and boosters. 3. Promote a culture that fosters and supports student leadership and the academic success of all students.

Incentives are earned.

SMART Goals and Data Walls RLA Goals (English/RA, Science, Title I, Social Studies) • Sixty percent of our students will earn a score mastery or above on the WV Writes program by February 21, 2011. This will be accomplished by utilization of writing across the curriculum strategies emphasizing 3.8 paragraphs and the 6 + 1 rubric. • One hundred percent of our students will be able to answer teacher designed reading comprehension questions correctly by first reading and attempting the questions followed with teacher guided instruction by May 13, 2011. Math Goals (Math, Science) • Sixty percent of our students will be able to answer word problems correctly on a twice weekly basis assessed through entry/exit activities by March 9, 2011. • One hundred percent of our students will be able to answer daily sponge Aquityquestions correctly by first attempting the question followed with teacher guided instruction by May 13, 2011.
