  2. What is lesson study? • Lesson study a professional development approach that originated in Japan. Its purpose is to improve teacher instruction. However it’s not solely about improving a single lesson, rather its about building pathways for ongoing improvement of instruction. Firgrove Elementary

  3. Where did lesson study come from? • Began in Japan • Swept across US • Springing up in 250 schools in 29 different states Firgrove Elementary

  4. How we got involved… • Began in September • Took place of responsive classroom for this year • Individual purpose or interest for being involved with Lesson Study Firgrove Elementary

  5. How did we choose the lessons? • Math focus • Tried to choose lesson relevant to school year and curriculum Firgrove Elementary
