  2. Learning Targets • I can analyze 3-8 module 4 units and lessons to develop an understanding of their central alignment to standards/targets. • I can determine opportunities for and methods of “re-pacing” module 4 units and lessons based on students’ needs. EngageNY.org

  4. Thinking about Backwards Design Read and highlight key words. EngageNY.org

  5. Backwards Design Locate the Design of the Modules recording form. Form triads. Select a grade span: 3,4,5 or 6,7,8. EngageNY.org

  6. Work Individually • Locate: module overviews, unit level overviews, lesson plans, curriculum map. • Work individually on your grade level (one member of the triad focus on one grade level in your span 3,4,5 OR 6,7,8). EngageNY.org

  7. Share Each member of the triad share out for 3 minutes on your grade level. Other members of the team fill in the note catcher. EngageNY.org

  8. Trends • Analyze and discuss the trends you notice in the desired results (outcomes for students). What is critical for students to know, understand, or be able to do? EngageNY.org

  9. Inquiry • Think about your pacing of the module lessons • What areas do you have questions about? (Brainstorm several) • Increasing a volume of reading? • Expanding writing tasks? EngageNY.org

  10. Think • Which of these areas do I want to dig more deeply into regarding pacing? • Make a commitment. This will guide the next portion of your work. EngageNY.org

  11. Mingle Find 3-4 others who have the same interest as you do regarding pacing. Feel free to change your mind if the conversations influence your thinking. EngageNY.org

  12. Collaborate Use supporting documents; module overviews, curriculum maps, recommended text lists, lesson plans. Search for answers to your inquiry question. EngageNY.org

  13. Gallery Walk Please follow the facilitator’s time to review the anchor charts posted on the walls. Purpose: These charts represent knowledge and expertise from your experienced colleagues. What ideas or new thinking will help you as you consider the challenges of “re-pacing” the modules? EngageNY.org

  14. Develop the Proposal • How would you re-pace this unit? • Talk about the class make up and student needs before beginning • Which components would you repace? • How? • Why? EngageNY.org

  15. Tuning Protocol • Review the protocol. • How could you (or have you) used this protocol or something similar to continue this process back at your school? EngageNY.org
