  2. Why Do We Need This Training? Prevent injuries Reduce equipment loss Comply with NFPA 1403 Reduce liability and costs

Purpose • Certify personnel to be Live Fire Adjuncts with Gwinnett County Fire Academy and be able to actively participate during Live Fire Training. • Improve our use of Thermal Imaging Cameras. • Refresher for already certified Adjuncts as some rules have changed since burn building put in place.

  4. Rules • Complete classroom portion. • Shadow a certified Live Fire Instructor during Live Fire Training for ½ day session, in various positions.

  5. Terminal Objective • All students will have an understanding and have the ability to implement NFPA 1403, Gwinnett County Live Fire Guidelines, and properly use TIC’s used by Gwinnett.

  6. Introduction • Situational Awareness and Safety • Different playing field when conducting live fire training with inexperienced personnel than when on the fire ground. • Same dangers just different rules.

  9. Case Studies • Where did training go wrong? • All accidents are preventable and predictable. • Specific Incidents

  10. Thermal Imaging Cameras • TICs • Scott Eagle Imager II • Scott Eagle Imager 160 • Talimans • Bullard • When, where and how to use. • Can be applied to field use as well.

  11. Simulations • Use what we have learned and apply in specific situations following all guidelines and proper use of the TIC.
