Instrumentation development: physical foundation for our lofty goals - establishes what we know experimentally and why we believe it companion development for new science & technology, complex machines & facilities (XFEL example) still significant issues in Ion Beam Radiotherapy (IBRT) – eg. World Congress 2012 in Beijing: Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering
