  2. What is the geographical challenge? • It is 1 Native Territory (Akwesasne Mohawk Territory) • It is 2 country (Canada and the US) • It is 2 Provinces - 1 State ( Ontario, Quebec and New York) • It is over 12 different Police jurisdiction

It’s a serious business!Our current enforcement Cornwall Regional Task Force (RTF) Combine Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU) • The RCMP (36 members), the OPP (7 members), Canada Boarder Service Agency CBSA (1 member) and the Ontario Ministry of Revenue (MOR 3 officer) have formed the Cornwall Regional Task Force (RTF). The RTF will concentrate on identifying and disrupting criminal activity in the area which includes the trafficking of drugs, guns and tobacco • Fall 2010 CFSEU see it’s unit increased with the addition of the Contraband Tobacco Initiative (CTI). • They are supported by the Cornwall Criminal Intelligence Section

  5. Product volume! • In 2010 the Cornwall RTF along with it’s partners 268 seizures 356,635 cartons of 200 cig. • They also seized $261,608.40 in currency. • Can we do more?

  6. Organized Crime Involvement • Yes the Organized Crime is involved from one form or another

  7. Is enforcement alone the solution? • Recent news release indicated that youth are not taking contraband seriously on the contrary …. • There is a serious need for a very good marketing and educational campaign.
