  2. 中元祭的由來 • 追本溯源，基隆中元祭與咸豐年間漳泉械鬥有關：墾荒初期基隆地區移民因土地、水源爭執不斷，加上族群地域觀念濃厚，因此經常發生械鬥事件。咸豐年間，漳泉兩邑移民在魴頂生大規模械鬥，雙方死傷慘重，後經地方頭人出面協調，乃集中埋葬死者遺骸，並建老大公墓撫慰亡靈。

  4. 中元祭的實錄 • 近年來，在基隆市政府的努力推廣下，中元祭放水燈花車遊行逐漸跳脫以往一成不變的藝閣花車遊行方式，希望提昇民眾的參與感，也讓市民們感受市府求新求變的用心。基隆市消防局每年均擔任八斗子放水燈的海上警戒工作，近年亦參與花車遊行之列；除可藉以提昇消防形象，亦可使民眾注重消防安全。今年，消防局花車以水陸兩棲車為車體，並配上大型消防鳳凰鳥圖案裝飾。另由該局2位同仁裝扮成消防寶寶人偶，沿著遊行隊伍路線一一向民眾揮手致意，也獲得許多熱情的民眾回應，並爭相與花車及消防寶寶人偶拍照留念。
