Venus • 2nd planet from the sun. • Normally referred to as the Morning Star and Evening Star • Atmosphere mainly made of carbon dioxide and nitrogen. • Named after the Roman goddess of beauty and love. In Babylonian mythology, it is the goddess Ishtar. • Shows phases through a telescope. • No magnetic field, and no satellites.
Earth • The only planet not named after a Greek or Roman deity. • Currently the only planet that supports life. • Densest planet in the solar system. • Only one known satellite. The Moon. • Divided into several layers that have distinct chemical and seismic properties.
