The Indian Civil Services Examination Process The Civil Services Examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for recruitment to All India Services including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS and others. The Indian Civil Service serves as the backbone of India and it carries great respect and responsibilities in the society. The Civil Services Exam is the most toughest competitive examination in India. The Civil Services Examination consists of three stages. • The Civil Services Preliminary Examination • The Civil Services Main Examination • Interview and final Selection www.globalias.in

IAS Preliminary Exams in 2016 • The Civil Service Preliminary Examination is the 1st stage of process conducted by the UPSC. • It consists of two objective-type papers. 1.General Studies 2.Aptitude Test • Preliminary Examinations are only for qualify the candidates for Main Examination. • From 2011 onwards, the Preliminary examination, now popularly known as the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). • The new pattern includes two papers of two hours duration and 200 marks each. • UPSC IAS Prelims Exam 2016 will be conducted on 7 August, 2016. www.globalias.in

The Eligibility Norms for the Examination • A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years to write the exam, however candidate can start prepare for the exam well before 21 years • A candidate must be a citizen of India for IAS, IFS or IPS • Candidates must have a minimum of any degree qualifications. www.globalias.in

The Civil Services Mains Examination Process • The UPSC has revised the pattern of Civil Services Main examination from 2015 • The Civil Services Mains Examination consists of a written examination and an interview. • The written examination consists of nine papers, two qualifying and seven ranking in nature. Mark Counted Papers • Paper 1 – Essay (250 marks). • Paper 2 – General Studies – Paper 1 (250 marks). • Paper 3 – General Studies – Paper 2 (250 marks). • Paper 4 – General Studies – Paper 3 (250 marks). • Paper 5 – General Studies – Paper 4 (250 marks). • Paper 6 – Optional – Paper 1 (250 marks). • Paper 7 – Optional – Paper 2 (250 marks). www.globalias.in

The Civil Services Mains Examination Process Qualifying Papers • Paper A – Regional Language. • Paper B – English Language. • The total mark of the written examination is 1750 Marks. • The Interview/Personality Test will be of 275 marks. • UPSC IAS Mains Exam 2016 will be conducted on 3 December, 2016. www.globalias.in
