ICT Programme Aims 1 • Know how to use ICT effectively in your teaching • Know how to use ICT effectively to support your wider professional role • Have a good understanding of ICT to ensure that you can help pupils make progress in their use of ICT
ICT Programme Aims 2 • Can support pupils’ abilities across a range of ICT themes as defined by the National Curriculum • Are confident and competent in the use of ICT • Are able to critically assess the potential for new technologies in your teaching
ICT Programme Structure 1 • 12 Hands-on sessions + Hands-on Test & Quiz • Three Lectures • School-based training
ICT Programme Structure 2 • ICT Core Sessions: Pedagogy, application of ICT to schools, skills • ICT Lectures: Knowledge, vocabulary, concepts, issues • Core Subjects: Examples & suggestions of school ICT relevant to the subject • School Placements: Range of ICT resources, integration, planning, assessment and reporting
ICT in Schools • ICT to support, enhance and extend subject teaching • ICT to ease teachers administrative burden • Schools ICT is more than computers and software • Schools ICT includes technologies such as CD-ROMs, video, TV, programmable robots, monitoring devices, OHP, audio recorder etc
ICT in National Curriculum (NC) • There is a general requirement to use ICT across the curriculum • NC ICT Programme of Study (PoS): • 'Breadth of Study' • 'Knowledge, skills and understanding‘ • Finding things out • Developing ideas and making things happen • Exchanging and sharing information • Reviewing, modifying and evaluating work as it progresses
Target Setting • You are responsible for your learning • You need to be clear what you need to achieve • You need to manage your time and learning • We will help and guide you • We provide opportunities for you • You must set appropriate focussed targets • We provide systems to support those targets

Directed Activities • Before Session 02 please ensure that you have successfully subscribed to Computing Services • Find Building 44 Room 1063 • Reflect on your personal ICT skills
Preparation • You will complete a pre-Audit of your ICT and start to build up your ICT RoA (Record of Achievement). Please prepare a few brief notes on an A4 sheet of your ICT experience and skills
