  3. Elijah House Ministries… • Is an interdenominational non-profit Christian training organisation for prayer ministry • Offers training, seminars, courses and conferences, providing information, books and multimedia materials to assist in the realisation of its mission and aim

  4. Prayer Ministry… Is the prayerful, social and spiritual dialogue between a prayer minister and a participant with the aim of providing understanding and choices for personal growth and healing

  5. The Founders: John & Paula Sandford In 1974, after pastoring for more than 20 years, John and Paula Sandford founded Elijah House, which is now based in Spokane Valley, Washington. Elijah House teaches, trains and ministers worldwide to thousands each year, bringing restoration to broken lives and relationships. John and Paula Sandford are authors and co-authors of numerous books on marriage, family, restoration and related subjects.

Elijah House Ministries… • Aims to serve the wider church by: • Providing prayer ministry teaching and training based on that of John and Paula Sandford as expressed through Elijah House Inc (USA). • Providing an understanding of why we experience difficulties in our lives and relationships. • Providing an understanding of prayer ministry as a means of overcoming the difficulties experienced in our lives and relationships. • Training Elijah House Ministries graduates to provide prayer ministry to the wider church and/or be leaders and team members for Elijah House Ministries.

  7. Presentation of the Training Course The course comprises Levels A, B, C & D and includes 48 teaching DVDs. Each level usually takes 4 days or 2 weekends, and the whole course is completed over a period of months. Each training day starts with praise and worship followed by the teaching DVDs featuring John and Paula Sandford and other Elijah House leaders. Prayer Ministry is modelled to participants in small groups. A comprehensive workbook is provided containing enrichment sections, scripture keys, sample prayers and room for your own lesson notes.

Elijah House Teachings • Elijah House ministry is based firmly on Biblical principles that: • It is the power of the cross, through the Holy Spirit and by the truth of God’s Word, that works to bring lasting healing and restoration to the family. • God’s laws, both natural and spiritual, are absolute and are written into the universe. Laws such as: • Honour your father and mother Ephesians 6:2-3 • Judge others and you will be judged Matthew 7:1-2 • You reap what you sow Galatians 6:7-8 • The principle of increase Hosea 8:7a • These laws impact our lives whether or not we believe or understand them, and we reap the consequences when we break them.

Elijah House Teachings (cont’d) The driving force behind the recurring patterns of trouble in our lives start when: • As small children we respond to hurts in sinful ways • We nurture seeds of anger, resentment, bitterness and unforgiveness in our hearts • As adults we forget the incidents that led to the hurt and react to people in ways we don’t understand

  10. Elijah House Teachings (cont’d) • Christ’s work is complete, but God is still at work in our lives. True freedom requires first recognizing that many of today’s problems have their roots in our sinful responses to yesterday’s wounds. • We are reconciled to God and one another when we: • Recognise the destructive patterns in our lives • Forgive those who hurt us, and ourselves • Repent, resulting in real change • Confess and seek God’s forgiveness for our sinful responses

The Course provides valuable keys of understanding that enable people to: • Understand the actions and reactions of themselves and others • Identify the reasons behind life's difficulties • Make choices to ensure real and lasting change • Become equipped through the power of the Holy Spirit to help others

As a result, people experience… • A deeper relationship with God • Healing in their lives • Restoring of relationships • Strengthening of marriages • Freedom to choose alternative responses and reactions • Freedom from the disabling power of past hurts • Renewal of relationship with their Church
