Ashley and Melissa looked into the sources of funding for Providence Farm. Originally the sisters of St. Ann's donated the property (http://providence.bc.ca/about-us/sisters-of-st-ann/) and it seems to have started up from donations from friends , families, and corporations. • Coast Capital Savings Credit Union has invested $40,000, (grant? loan?) , the Victoria Foundation has also supported some of the programs, and the Farm solicits public donations. • Melissa suggests that $1.5 million dollars comes from government and private donors – for instance, the BC Hydro's Employees union, local Safeway donation boxes (thousands per year), the Duncan Fire Department and many fundraisers held throughout the year on the farm. • Based on the input I’ve gotten, here’s what I’m proposing regarding the mid-term and the grade distribution: bump the reading presentations to 15%, keep attendance and participation at 10%, keep the major project at 35%, the final at 25%, and have a take-home mid-term worth 15% which I would mark at my leisure. • Today we don’t have any presentations, but I would like to show you “Island on the Edge.” Housekeeping Items
