FRC (Flame Retardant Clothing) – Implementation Overview • WHAT are we doing?: • Implementing FRC in UAD-GoM Operations • WHY are we DOING THIS?: • WE Want YOU All to Go Home JUST Like You Came! • REDUCE the EXPOSURE at our assets • Potential for FLASH FIRES (where) hydrocarbons gases or liquids are handled in certain operations. • USE of Flame Retardant Clothing (FRC) is effective in reducing the severity of burns and to save lives. • What is the EFFECTIVE DATE?: • FRC Requirements WILL BE EFFECTIVE on December 1, 2012. FRC (Flame Retardant Clothing) – Implementation Overview • WHO is REQUIRED to have FRC? : • UAD GoM Employees, • Contractors, • Visitors • WHAT does the FRC expectation REQUIRE?: • FRC includes either: FRC coveralls or a FRC pant/FRC long sleeve shirt combination • FRC must be worn offshore at all times by all when outside of PPE exempt areas such as the living quarters, the galley, and gym. • Garments shall be certified to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 2112 standard. • FRC clothing shall be worn as designed. FRC (Flame Retardant Clothing) – Implementation Overview • WHAT FRC Garments Will You Get?: • 2-Sets: Coverall and /or Pant Shirt Combination • 1 - Jacket • HOW & WHEN will You GET FRC Garments?: • Shell UAD GoM Employees: • 2012 Initial Implementation: • Ordering and Purchase of FRC garments will be facilitated for UAD-GoM employees that go offshore. • FRC vendor (Workrite) will hold FRC order events: One Shell Square: July 25th and July 26th or at the Heliports on crew change dates: First 2 weeks of August (7th – 9th and 14th – 16th) • Employees that are not available during these dates: Use ORDER FORM in the standard • UAD GoM Contractors: • Our CONTRACTORS obtain FRC as directed by Their Company. 7. FRC: Other Details • Except as noted in the next bullet point, fire-resistant rainwear certified by the supplier must be worn over the FRC as the outermost garment during rainy weather as necessary. • Chemical suits or other special protective clothing may be worn over FRC as the outermost garment when doing especially wet/dirty jobs which may impair the protective properties of the FRC within a short time, or when there is potential for chemical exposure based on information from a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or other source related to work being performed. • Personnel who travel to offshore locations are not required to wear FRC on the helicopter or boat. 8. FRC: Other Details • Initial Implementation: UAD GoM employees will be allowed 2 sets of FRC (coverall and/or pant shirt combination) with 1 jacket during this 1st order. • Delivery: FRC orders will be delivered to the employees’ homes within 3 weeks for stock items and within 7 weeks for non-stock items (such as women’s garments or extra large sized FRC). • Subsequent Need: Every year thereafter, employees will be allowed to order another 2 sets of FRC based on need and upon approval from your supervisor. We are not anticipating employees needing a jacket every year. A subset of our employees (such as deck operators, mechanics, electricians, etc.) may need more than 2 sets of FRC per year but we will leave this decision to the supervisor’s discretion. • NFPA 2112-compliant FRC must be purchased (with supervisor approval) by UAD-GoM employees through the approved Shell vendor using this order form. 9. FRC: Other Details • If any UAD-GoM employee does not get a chance to order FRC on the designated order days, they may also purchase them through the approved Shell vendor using this order form. • Non-UAD Shell employees (P&T, UA staff that support UAD, etc.) may choose to order their FRC during the designated order days, but they must provide a method of payment (purchase order or credit card). • UAD contractors (long- and short-term) shall provide their own FRC which meets NFPA 2112. • Laundering: For any employees that have occasions to launder FRC at their homes, follow the care instructions for home laundering.
