  6. PHA (Poly-hydroxyalkanoates) a family of linear aliphatic polyesters PHA In the environment PHAs arebiodegraded by many species of bacteria.

  7. Plastic requires 8% of the world’s oil

  8. PHA granules in bacteria Poly-hydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are naturally synthesized biological polyesters. They serve as a carbon energy storage compound for bacteria and are stored as intracellular granules.

  17. Micromidas was formed in 2008 and is currently working with several wastewater treatment facilities across the world to help address problems of costly bio-solids removal. Micromidas developed a fermentation technology that partitions the organic nutrients from waste and then utilizes a robust set of organisms to store the energy from those nutrients as intracellular bio-plastic.
