What is e-commerce? • Merriam Webster’s definition of commerce is the exchange or buying and selling of commodities on a large scale involving transportation from place to place • E-commerce is commerce enabled by information technology • Some examples are buying movie tickets or purchasing and downloading a song from iTunes with your cell phone or tablet
E-commerce is relatively new, but is all ready fast changing how we interact with each other on a day-to-day basis • The forms of e-commerce currently being used today are, • M-Commerce – Mobile commerce – Commerce conducted over a wireless device such as a cell phone, laptop, or tablet • T-Commerce – Television commerce – Commerce conducted over via television
